Brilliant place to stay

Love this hotel staff are brilliant owners are too ....beds are like home from home we will definitely be coming back here again .extremely reasonable prices specially for Edinburgh .I have to say the owners again are just brilliant . Also next to the local zoo very easy to get into town and back via buses rooms are lovely and clean and comfortable I really would rate here ten out of ten if I were able to .

Never again!!!

We paid £250 for a room with a shared bathroom, no wardrobe, no drawers, a kettle at one side and the cups at the other end. The door to the “hotel” has a household bin number 2 on it. There was an indescribable smell, I’m not sure if it’s the cleaning products used, which was highly unpleasant. The mattress had more springs than Tigger, that dug in when lying down causing pain and every movement brought a symphony of a spring concerto!! Our view was a wall and a concrete staircase. The wall of the room had a crack which had been roughly plastered awaiting paint. The bathroom had a food waste bin with a bag presumably for feminine hygiene products. The room was sold as having en suite however once the money was taken, the confirmation showed it was a shared bathroom. It also said there was parking however it’s a residential area and the car would be towed. We were told we could park on the road as you come in, which was a bus lane!! We had to park three streets down.

Not the best

This is quite a new business and they are making a good effort but there are a few things they really need to sort out. First of all some external signage would be helpful. There is no hotel sign what so ever and even identifying which front door on the street was quite tricky.
Fixing the broken lock on the front door would be nice too. It was actually hanging off. Looks shoddy and also reduces the security of those staying.
When I arrived there was no one around to speak to. It is a small hotel with no reception area but also there was no indication of what to do or who to contact so I had to walk around three floors to find someone. It was 3.30 in the afternoon and the common area which serves as the breakfast room was in a shocking state. Bags of rubbish, filthy surfaces etc. They need to get this sorted or people will not stay.
On the plus side my room was quite nice. Bathroom tiny but generally OK apart from the fact there was a problem with the shower draining. If another person does not notice this and keeps using it, it could overflow into the room underneath.
Would I stay again? Probably not. There is a lot they need to improve on.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Nice hotel, good location, very affordable and very friendly staff.

Me and my partner were staying the night here before flying out the morning after and the room was very nice and comfortable. The host was very welcoming upon arrival and check in was very smooth. The bed was extremely comfy and the tv had Netflix, prime video etc allowing to chill out watching a film.
10/10 would stay her again.
