Subject: Request for Escalation – Reservation 14280286871790675226 (Room 24)
Dear Booking.com,
Thank you for your response.
I am extremely disappointed that my complaint has been declined solely because this was a partner offer reservation. My complaint is not about a change of mind or cancellation—it concerns the condition of the accommodation provided.
Room 24 was in an unacceptable state on arrival. During our stay we documented extensive evidence, including:
* Dirty shower enclosure with mould and grime.
* Hair present in the bedding.
* Dirty tea and coffee facilities which we did not feel safe using, requiring us to purchase disposable cups.
* Stained carpets, including what appears to be an iron burn.
* A leaking radiator pipe.
* Damaged décor and poor maintenance throughout the room.
* We also had to purchase cleaning products, gloves and cloths at our own expense because the bathroom was in such a poor hygienic condition that I did not feel comfortable showering until I had cleaned it myself.
We travelled from Sheffield for one night only to attend the Luke Combs concert. We left the hotel at approximately 7:30 pm and returned at around 11:20 pm.
On our return we discovered there was virtually no soundproofing between the rooms. We could clearly hear conversations from both adjoining rooms, making it impossible to relax or sleep.
At that time, we did not feel able to complain because it was late at night and, due to the concert, we were genuinely concerned there would be no alternative accommodation available. We therefore felt we had no practical option but to remain in the room despite its condition.
The combination of the unhygienic room, excessive noise and feeling trapped in the accommodation caused us significant distress and made us feel unsafe.
I appreciate that this may have been booked through a partner, but consumer rights are not removed because of the booking method. I therefore request that this complaint is escalated and reviewed based on the quality and condition of the accommodation provided, rather than the booking channel.
I have extensive photographic evidence and receipts for the cleaning products and other items we were forced to purchase.

Absolutely Shambolic

Horrenous service.
A water leak happened and the repairs went on for an ENTIRE day (went of over midnight). No water came in during the entire process and the staff gave no alternate means for water. Only spared a few water bottles only when asked. They could barely even do a refund for 1 day, reception man we talked to was rude, speaking like a corporate
machine.
Do not come here.

The room was not clean, first indicated by the stains on the sheets and the duvet. The wallpaper in the bathroom were coming off the walls, particularly around the toilet, seemingly due to water damage of some kind (this was a general thing in the bathroom). The shower itself was separated from the toilet which was odd particularly considering the floor in the room was all carpeted. The bed was NOT fit for two people and my partner ended up sleeping on the floor one of the nights due to the limited space. The curtains were quite far from the wall resulting in the sun shining directly in your eyes the second it started rising and even during the night it was quite bright. Overall I would not recommend this hotel mainly due to cleanliness and poor sleeping conditions.

The rooms are NOT clean. The bedding has stains on it. The spoons have dirt on them. The "new" towels are not clean and one of them smell weird We don't want touch anything in this room.

Highly Disappointed in Northumberland Hotel
Our stay at the Northumberland hotel was very disappointing. We stayed five nights, and they never cleaned our room. We had to beg the front desk for towels. There is no elevator in the property, and using the stairs and navigating the doorways/doors in the halls was very cumbersome. There is no telephone in the room, so there’s no way to call the front desk. No one attends the desk. They will come occasionally when they have a door bell type button on the desk that you ring. The shower would hardly drip enough water to get wet. This hotel accommodation was very disappointing. Walls are paper thin - we could hear EVERYTHING going on next door. The halls have an odd smell, as though someone overcooked the sausage. After 5 days it was making us sick to our stomachs. If we could give them 0 stars we would. This hotel has such a good opportunity to make guests happy because the location is good with a bus stop out front plus close to downtown but not in the middle of the chaos but they missed the mark 100#.
