Nothing fancy but good enough

Quaint little and traditional building with individual rooms. A bit cramped and not really well cleaned, but close to the EICC and city center. Three single beds in my room, full kitchen and private bath, good enough for a short stay in Edinburgh

No great

Location was okay, state of the room was vile. Cups covered in mouldy coffee clearly not been washed or checked if used by previous guests. shared bathroom was disgusting (should be cleaned daily or atleast every second day if it’s shared) was not clean. Sheets had other peoples hair on them. Was told we were getting a refund as we didn’t even stay at the place in the end, and now being refused the refund.

Dirty, smelly, no WiFi

The place is dirty from the outside (I have attached pics) to inside. The moment you walk in there’s a horrible stench. We were there for 2 nights and the first day I almost puked from that smell. I don’t know if it’s the carpet or mould. We informed the host but she didn’t care to respond. The wifi and tv were not working at all. We struggled because mobile network was bad. We informed the host and again there was no active response. We had a terrible experience. I wouldn’t advise anyone staying at that place especially for people with allergies. The whole place needs sorting.

Not very good!

Solo traveller. A large room for myself was a bonus.
There were no towels in room upon arrival. I wanted to have a shower before I went back out. I rang the number provided but no one answered. I'd also requested towels via the app twice, no reply. I rang the number when I got back in to be told the linens delivery was late & because I wasn't in, they didn't leave me any towels! I said you should have a key like normal hotel housekeeping, but they said they didn't! I eventually had towels brought to me after midnight. They had dirty marks in them & one had a big rip down the side.
The remote control for the TV was very dirty. I had to clean it with disinfectant spray. I didn't have a drink as the tea bags were loose in a pot. There were 2 spiderwebs with spiders in them in the small room where the toilet & sink were. The light didn't work in the separate shower. Only shampoo was provided in the dispenser, no conditioner or shower gel (which was quoted as being included). Hairdryer was a travel one, so it took ages to dry my hair.

Acceptable as a base for sightseeing

Me, my husband and our 3-year-old daughter stayed 3 nights at no. 57 Residence, to visit Edinburgh.
Despite the bad reviews we had read, we found an acceptable and livable environment as a base for visiting the city.
Our room (No.5) was acceptable, albeit small. The shared bathroom is clean and equipped with hand soap and shower gel and shampoo.
Effective coded mode to pick up the room key.
Great bus Service, there are two stops very close to the Residence.
